Mary Gallagher, CNM, is a certified nurse-midwife at Women’s Healthcare Associates in Portland, Oregon.

From the Provider

“My greatest desire as a midwife is that my patients feel heard by me during their pregnancy, birth, postpartum and gynecologic care. I care deeply about building genuine connections and ensuring the women I serve can trust me to respect all of their healthcare decisions.”

About the Provider

Mary’s path to midwifery became clear through her social service experience supporting and advocating for infants, young families and pregnant homeless youth after college. Her favorite part of providing care as a midwife is making deep connections with women. She strives to understand her patient’s thoughts, questions, desires and concerns and to be a knowledgeable, compassionate and relatable healthcare partner for them. She is passionate about supporting women with all of their reproductive health decisions throughout their lives. Mary’s background providing labor support as a nurse in a home birth practice is the model for how she cares for women in the hospital—providing as much hands-on support during labor and birth as possible and desired.

When she’s not working, Mary enjoys cooking, baking, crafting, reading, traveling and spending time with friends and family. She and her husband have a cockapoo named Maggie.

My 15 year old daugher was very nervous for her first ob appointment. Mary was wonderful! Warm, caring and exactly what my daughter needed to feel safe and comfortable.

Best (least painful and uncomfortable) annual exam I have ever had. Literally. It was an all around positive experience.
