From the Provider

“I chose OB/GYN because women’s healthcare is often overlooked, especially when it comes to intimate issues like pain, infertility and heavy bleeding. I’ve always been passionate about giving my patients options and empowering them to take control of their healthcare. It’s incredibly rewarding when a patient tells me they feel heard and understood—especially when they may have previously felt they had run out of options.”

About the Provider

Dr. Andrews’ passion for caring for underserved communities began in her rural West Virginia upbringing. After completing her medical education in Appalachia, she continued her service by participating in an international medical outreach program in Haiti to advance gynecologic surgery.

Today, Dr. Andrews is a fellowship-trained minimally-invasive gynecologic surgeon and provides gynecologic surgical care. She has special expertise in treating chronic pelvic pain, endometriosis, uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts, heavy bleeding and infertility-related conditions using both surgical and medical approaches. She also offers specialized care, including gender-affirming hysterectomies—and has experience with urethral slings for the management of urinary incontinence.

Dr. Andrews is especially committed to offering women—particularly women of color—advanced treatments such outpatient surgery with quicker recovery times, less postoperative pain and less risk. She is proud to offer her patients minimally invasive procedures for complex conditions that traditionally require longer recovery times and larger incisions.

Dr. Andrews’ work extends to research, where she led a multisite trial focused on improving surgical outcomes for minority populations. She uses her MPH in epidemiology to advance research on understanding disparities in access to surgical care for underserved communities. Dr. Andrews has published her research in multiple peer-reviewed journals and has presented at a number of American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists conferences.

In her free time, Dr. Andrews enjoys sand volleyball, hiking, traveling and trying new restaurants.

Dr Andrews was excellent. I felt comfortable with the exam. She was very informative with what needed to be done, and to help me understand what I needed to do. Also, gave me information for possible follow up if my issue re-occurs. The Rx prescribed is also helpful.

Dr Andrews is an amazingly caring and attentive provider who entered the visit clearly having reviewed my medical information prior to having spoken with me. She was aware of my pronouns and gender identity and addressed me accordingly, and was appropriately concerned about my pain levels and symptom presentation and fully prepared to follow through with providing the appropriate care to provide both a cohesive gender experience and pain and symptom relief without any excess unnecessary shame during the appointment as is so common during GYN appointments. As a patient with chronic conditions I see many providers and specialists, and Dr Andrews easily stands out as one I would strongly recommend to my best friend, mother and sisters.
