About the Provider

As a teen, the gift of gab, a talent for multitasking and fierce determination drew Dr. Spence toward medicine and, eventually, obstetrics and gynecology. Today, she still thrives on the variety of managing labors, performing surgery and seeing patients in clinic. She loves the educational aspects of women’s healthcare and helping people understand their fertility, birth control or pregnancy. The complications she experienced during the births of her own children and the lack of understanding she felt—despite being in medical school—influence how she works with patients, seeking to provide all the information they need to make decisions. She is passionate about community and adolescent education and enjoys helping people with a wide range of issues, including contraceptive options, abnormal menstrual bleeding, polycystic ovarian syndrome, difficulty conceiving and managing the symptoms of menopause, including hormone replacement. She also provides comprehensive obstetrical care and can help people manage complications during pregnancy, such as gestational diabetes or hypertension.

Born and raised in another small Oregon town, Dallas, Dr. Spence is committed to giving back to the community and currently serves as co-chair of the Yamhill County Board of Health. She and her husband (who is also from Dallas) have two children and they enjoy hiking, caring for their goats and chickens, foraging and rock hounding. Dr. Spence also enjoys knitting and is up for any home renovation or DIY project.
